Hepatitis B Foundation UK at AASLD conference in Boston

The American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) annual conference was held in Boston USA from 2nd to 6th November 2007. Penny Wilson-Webb, Coordinator of Hepatitis B Foundation UK, was there flying the flag for people with hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection.  Penny discussed the prevalence of chronic HBV infection worldwide and in Europe, including the UK.  She highlighted the need for appropriate therapies to prevent the most serious consequences of chronic HBV infection, such as cirrhosis and liver cancer.

With a team of researchers he discovered the hepatitis B virus and created a vaccine against it

The title of the conference was 'From Revolution to Evolution - Rewriting the Next Chapter on Hepatitis B'.
