Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could help me out with my problem:
The other day I went to the nurse to have a blood test prior to Hep B immunisation. The blood test i was due to have was the Hep B surface antigen (HBsAg) test. I was also due to have the first of my three Hepatitis B vaccinations.
However, the nurse insisted that i had the vaccination before the blood test, saying that it did not matter which way round I had them done.
Does anybody know if having the vaccination BEFORE having the blood test will make the results of the blood test invalid? I'm really worried that because i had just had the vaccination, the results will show that i am currently infected with Hep B. I need these results to be correct because i'm due to start studying medicine.
Thanks.

When I had the first of my three vaccinations they tested the blood for the virus at the SAME time......I therefore don't think it matters...........I would not worry about this ....but as it sounds like you are worried so make a phone call to the hospital again or contact a Hep specialist ...........for your own peace of mind....
